I've seen some movies recently. Liked "Ratatouille" okay. "Live Free or Die Hard" was a lot of fun, but easily one of the most ridiculous movies I've ever seen. And I really liked the new Harry Potter. I liked it better than the book, maybe. The book was slow moving. The movie really communicated the gravity of the story and set the tone for upcoming installments. While "Prisoner of Azkaban" is the best looking movie of the set, I thought the story and performances of this one were the best so far. It's inspired me to get off my butt and finally read The Half Blood Prince.

I've also found another exemption to the summer TV blackout: Man vs. Wild on The Discovery Channel. It's awesome!

Oh yeah, WTF?

Have you seen the new Axe fragrance commercials? Here is a sampling of them on YouTube.

Aside from being ridiculous, not particularly funny, and terribly degrading, where the hell did they get the spelling of the famous porn theme?

Bom Chicka Wah Wah?!?!

First of all, "bom"?!?! Where the hell did that come from? Everyone knows it "bow". And if you're going to use onomatopoeia, then spell the words like you end up saying them, i.e. "wow" instead of "wah". I know the classic sound is made by a wah-wah pedal, but it's clearly "wow".

It's simple people. If you're uncertain about it, you can look these things up. It seems likely that they made up their own misspelled phrase so that they could copyright it. Which is just stupid, like the whole idea of Axe fragrances.

Oh, and don't forget, Axe is made and marketed by Unilever, the enlightened, sensitive people who came up with Dove's "Campaign for Real Beauty". Hypocritical much? Anything to make a buck, I guess.
